In 1994, grants obtained through Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (previously Texas Natural Resources Conservation Commission) by the District funded the Used Oil Collection Program. The program collects used motor oil and used oil filters from all District oil generators as well as the "Do-It-Yourself" group. Grant funds provided 17 containers which are located around the District (Dawson County) and a 3/4 ton truck outfitted with a 500-gallon collection tank.
